John Bennett – Trustee
John Bennett comes from a farming family on the South Coast of NSW, Australia. In addition to their Commercial Beef and Thoroughbred Bloodstock operations, John and his family operate a 550 seat Function and Conference centre located on their farm at Worrigee near Nowra NSW.
In 2004 John attended the RASC Albury conference as a youth delegate sponsored by the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW, commencing his association with the RASC. John was elected President of his local Show Society in Nowra the same year, a position he held for the following 5 years. John was invited by the RASC to lead its Next Generation Youth Forum at its Calgary conference in 2006.
Following the Calgary conference and the decision of the Next Generation Forum to travel to Zambia for an “Understanding and Assistance Mission” John was invited by the Commonwealth Secretary General to be a member of his election observation mission to the Zambian Presidential Elections in 2006. John was Leader of the first RASC Next Generation Mission to Zambia in 2007 and convener of the second mission to Papua New Guinea in 2009 and the third mission to Singapore and India in 2011.
John was co-opted to the RASC Board of Trustees in 2007 and acted as Next Generation Facilitator between 2008 and 2011. Since 2011 John has continued as a co opted Trustee of the RASC.
John was elected as a Councillor of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW in 2008 where he is a member of the Horse, Pig and Alpaca and Agricultural Education Committees. He also holds the position of Assistant Ringmaster for the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
