Northlands Supports Future Leaders in Agriculture

Delegate to travel to Brisbane, Australia

EDMONTON, AB – In conjunction with the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth (RASC), Northlands is pleased to offer a scholarship of $1,250 for Next Generation delegate, Lauren Hennig from Sherwood Park, AB to attend the 26th Commonwealth Agriculture Conference in Brisbane, Australia from October 21-24, 2014.

“The future of the industry depends on our young leaders and creating opportunities to share their innovations and successes,” said Tim Reid, President & CEO of Northlands. “This conference brings together individuals from varying experience and knowledge of the agriculture industry, and it’s this diversity that will help shape the future of agriculture.”

The four day conference will focus on best practices in agriculture and agricultural show management including the ongoing sustainability of royal agricultural shows. The participants from Commonwealth countries come away with a broader understanding of agriculture in different areas around the world.

“It is my personal goal, through my professional and volunteer efforts, to motivate and inspire current and future members in the community to create a brighter future,” said Lauren Hennig. “I believe the opportunity to represent Northlands at this event will help create even more links within the international agricultural community.

Earlier this year, Northlands secured the bid to host the 28th Commonwealth Agriculture Conference in conjunction with Farmfair International. The event will take place at the Edmonton EXPO Centre in early November 2018. As part of winning the bid, Northlands representatives will travel to Brisbane to present Northlands as the host for this bi-annual event. While at the conference, representative will promote Edmonton, Alberta and Canada while building relationships and developing international agricultural connections.
