Andrew was Chairman of both the Club and the Show in the 1990s. The Royal Smithfield Club now organises prime stock classes at the east of England showground each winter. He is the Club President for 2013. He is a former local authority Councillor, and is a member of the Royal Company of Archers, the Queen’s Bodyguard for Scotland.
Through the Smithfield Club, Andrew first joined the advisory committee of the RASC a number of years ago, and became a Trustee in 2007. He became Honorary Treasurer in 2011. He first attended the RASC conference in Chester in the 1990s, and has subsequently been to conferences in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Scotland and Zambia.
On his regular travels overseas he always tries to promote RASC membership, one memorable occasion being on a visit to the Falkland Islands. Andrew and his wife Mary live in Scotland; they have two grown up sons, one a police officer, the other a farm manager.
