I hope this message finds you well and fully recovered after our recent conference. It has been ten days since we concluded our gathering, and I trust everyone has returned home safely.
Our conference in Edinburgh was a resounding success, filled with the joy of reconnecting with old friends and the excitement of meeting new ones. From the pre-conference tour to the closing session on Thursday, the event was marked by an incredible energy and enthusiasm. Although we missed the presence of our President, HRH The Princess Royal, we extend our best wishes for her speedy recovery.
As we continue to enjoy the vibrant show season here in the UK, our thoughts also turn to Australia, where The Brisbane Ekka takes place at the beginning of August. I have fond memories of my time there, sleeping in the old cattle sheds while caring for the livestock.
On a personal note, while I was away at the conference, my youngest son, Nick, and his team successfully completed the silage harvest—a task they seem to manage even better in my absence! Meanwhile, my eldest son in New Zealand is currently busy scanning sheep and managing their feed.
I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Minette Batters, the former President of the NFU for England & Wales, on her recent recognition as a Dame.
We eagerly anticipate our next RASC Conference in Cape Town in November 2026 and look forward to seeing you all there.

We appreciate RASC for hosting biannual Agriculture Conferences . We learn alot, meet old friends and make new friends so proud to belong to a group of people who think of how to produce, process, preserve market and put food on the table for the next generation.
