As I sit and write this article, we are only a week away from the pre-conference tour.
A lot of work has gone into organising the conference and I am delighted that we have reached the numbers that we budget for. I look forward to seeing many old friends in Edinburgh.
The 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings were very moving – it is interesting to note that feeding the Nation mattered then as much as it does today.
Allan Murray and I drove down to The Royal Cornwall Show last week. It was a wonderful show, and we were made to feel so welcome. Chris Riddle, Secretary of The Royal Cornwall Show, is retiring this year, after being there for 45 years.
There have been several shows already here in the United Kingdom, so it’s safe to say that show season is in full swing!
The Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand held a conference to mark its 100th Anniversary – congratulations to all involved. Peter Nation, who will be speaking at the Conference, also spoke at their AGM – a little practice before he arrives in Scotland!
I must congratulate Colin and Rebecca Ferguson (nee Dawes) on the birth of their daughter, Sophie Diana.
Here in North Northumberland, the weather has been unseasonally cold… so I do hope it warms up for the Conference!
I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
