Press Secretary’s Welcome – March 2025

As I write this from home in Northumberland, we have been fortunate to enjoy much better weather compared to last year’s wet conditions. We are in the midst of lambing and calving, and it has been a pleasure to turn stock straight out into the fields. We are also grateful to have two students assisting us this season – one of whom returned after helping last year, which has been a great support.

It is with regret that we had to postpone our one-day conference at Harper Adams University in Shropshire here in the UK. However, we remain hopeful that we can reschedule for a later date. Perhaps April proved to be a challenging month, with so many people busy during this time.

Looking ahead, the Royal Easter Show begins in Sydney (Australia) on Friday 11th April, and we extend our best wishes to John Bennett and his team for what is always a fantastic and well-attended event. Meanwhile, in New Zealand, our son William has sold a percentage of the lambs, with prices up by around 20% compared to last year – a positive sign. The weather has been favourable, with a good balance of sunshine and rain to help with grass growth and winter crops.

Be sure to keep an eye on our website for updates on the 2026 RASC Conference in Cape Town, South Africa – we look forward to sharing more details soon!
