As I write this, we’re experiencing unusually mild weather for November here in Northumberland, with temperatures reaching 14°C today.

We were honoured to see John Bennett welcome the King and Queen to the Sydney Showground recently, marking a significant moment for the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
In the UK, several Prime Stock Shows have taken place. Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Agri-Expo in Carlisle, where I presented the trophy to the Champion Beast on behalf of The Royal Smithfield Club.
On the international scene, the Christchurch Show in New Zealand is set for mid-November, while Marla Calico was rightfully honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the WSFA Show for her significant contributions to the industry.
Here on our farm, we’ve had the rams out with the ewes, and the lamb prices have remained strong, averaging £123 last week. Due to the mild weather, the cattle are still grazing outdoors.
In New Zealand, the lambs saw an average of 138%, and they have now been tailed and put to the ram despite challenging weather, with 2 inches of rain recorded in September.
On a personal note, our family recently reunited as my son Charles and his wife Chrissie returned from Australia, enjoying a wonderful visit with my other son Will, his wife Jenna, and their two boys.
