Sir Nicholas Bacon Bt. OBE DL Takes Up the Role of Chairman
As a Society, we are happy to welcome Sir Nicholas Bacon as our the new Chairman of the RASC.
Sir Nicholas was appointed Lord Warden of the Stannaries for the Duchy of Cornwall in 2006; he is also Chair of The Queen’s Green Canopy, Chair of The Royal Agricultural Society of The Commonwealth and Chair of the Plant Health Alliance. He is President Emeritus of the RHS, having served as President from 2013 to 2020, (Treasurer 2010-2013).
Not to mention, Sir Nicholas is a Deputy Lieutenant and was High Sherriff of Norfolk in 2005.
Amongst his Norfolk voluntary involvements, Sir Nicholas is Chair of The Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, Easton College (the local Agricultural Further Education College for Norfolkf), Norfolk PACT (Partners Against Crime Taskforce) and Audit Committee at the University of East Anglia.
From Norfolk, Sir Nicholas has an agricultural holding which includes forestry and an open garden. The family has other property interests in Lincolnshire and London. Outside agriculture he has established companies specialising in insurance and lifts. Most of his life has been spent in the not-for-profit sector and establishing and managing SMEs.
As a Society, we welcome Sir Nicholas as Chairman and look forward to working with him across the next year.
