Press Secretary’s Welcome – July 2025

July has been a busy month, with many agricultural shows taking place here in the UK. I attended the Royal Welsh Show for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it – many congratulations to Aled and his team on delivering such a wonderful event. Last weekend, I visited the Border Union Show; it was great to see so many people there, helped by the fact that rain had stopped combining!

I’m delighted that the Next Generation Mission to Botswana went so well. It’s fantastic to have the mission up and running again, and we must thank Daphne & Christie Lindsay for all the help they gave us.

We also had a very successful AGM at the Royal Welsh, and were honoured that our President, HRH The Princess Royal, was able to join us. It was also wonderful to welcome representatives from several member societies.

Here at home in the UK, we have been busy making silage, and harvest has now started. We’re also selling lambs at the moment. In New Zealand, all the ewes have scanned well and stock is being fed on winter crop ahead of lambing, which begins at the start of September. Our son, Will, is currently very busy with his scanning work, travelling up and down the lower South Island of New Zealand.
